Winter Delmarva Dogfish BirdINNg Weekend: Jan. 30 – Feb. 2, 2025
The first Winter Delmarva Dogfish BirdINNg Weekend of 2025 will be held Jan. 31 – Feb. 2, 2025. This is our 10th year enjoying great looks at the waterfowl, seabirds, shorebirds, raptors — and seals! — that are on full display in the mid-Atlantic during the winter months. 112 species were tallied during the 2024 event, including Great Cormorant, White-winged Scoter and Razorbill, as well as Harbor and Gray Seals. Check out the eBird Trip Report from 2024 for a full listing of species observed.
In 2025, we are super excited to partner again with our friends at the Dogfish INN! Located in historic downtown Lewes alongside the canal and a short walk from Fisherman’s Wharf, the Dogfish Inn is the perfect basecamp for exploring all that coastal Delaware has to offer. Holding true to Dogfish Head fashion, you’ll find an offbeat approach to style, quality, and craft throughout each of their 16 rooms and their Super SWEET rental cottage located just up the street. Make the Dogfish INN your basecamp for winter birding!
Field trips include forays into Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Cape Henlopen State Park, the Indian River Inlet & Burton Island, and the amazing “Scoters, & Seals” boat tours in Lewes.
Pair your birding experiences with a stay at the Dogfish INN and Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales!
