Please note: To adjust for smaller than normal group sizes, we have raised field trip costs slightly on our walking tours. We have also raised costs on our paddling and boat tours to fairly compensate guides and outfitters. We will readjust prices and group sizes as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
MORNING
DRIVING/WALKING: Newport Farms Diversity Walk, 8 – 11 a.m.
COST: $30/person
MEETING LOCATION: the cul-de-sac at the end of Hayes Landing Road near Berlin, MD
The 2,200-acre Newport Farm reveals spectacular summer birding replete with a remote 50-acre freshwater pond next to the vast forests and marshes of Newport Bay. For this reason, this trip enjoys one of the highest species counts during our weekends. Bird lovers on this one-of-a-kind trip will enjoy short walks totaling less than a mile. The bucolic scene provides a breathtaking backdrop to one of Maryland’s most-renowned Bald Eagle spectacles. Summer Tanagers and Blue Grosbeaks often make this trip a colorful one.
KAYAK: Ayres Creek Paddle, 8 – 11 a.m.
COST: $55/person sharing a tandem kayak ($110 total), $80/person solo kayak
MEETING LOCATION: Ayers Creek Adventures
Paddle the beautiful forested headwaters of Ayres Creek, abundant with birds and wildlife, just minutes from Berlin, Maryland. View woodpeckers, flycatchers, swallows, nuthatches, titmice, wrens, thrushes, vireos, warblers, herons, egrets and more.

Please note: If you are reserving a tandem kayak, please plan to attend with a paddling partner also registered with the DBW.
