Please note: To adjust for smaller than normal group sizes, we have raised field trip costs slightly on our walking tours. We have also raised costs on our paddling and boat tours to fairly compensate guides and outfitters. We will readjust prices and group sizes as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
MORNING
DRIVING: Warblermania!, 7 – 10 am

Warblermania! will help you add warblers to your weekend species tally! Meet your guide at Pocomoke River Canoe Company in Snow Hill, MD, and caravan to Nassawango Creek to search for Prothonotary, Worm-eating, and Prairie Warblers, American Redstarts, Northern Parulas, and other birds of the bald cypress swamp.
KAYAK/CANOE: Warblers on Water (Porter’s Crossing to Snow Hill), 8 – 11 am
COST: $55/person sharing a tandem kayak/canoe ($110 total), $80/person solo kayak
MEETING LOCATION: Pocomoke River Canoe Company
We’ll launch from Porter’s Crossing on the Pocomoke River a few miles north of Snow Hill, Maryland and paddle deep into this forested wilderness of bald cypress. Prothonotary Warblers Wood Ducks, Eagles, and beavers are regulars on this 3-hour trip, which will end at the Pocomoke River in Snow Hill.
On a windy day, this paddle can present a moderate challenge as we approach Snow Hill. Paddlers may choose canoes, tandem kayaks, or solo kayaks. For scheduling, please select tandem kayak if you want a canoe. We will follow up later with your preference. PLEASE NOTE: this trip requires delivery by van to the launch location. Vans will operate at 50% capacity.
All paddling done by participants; some experience required. Must be 13 years old to participate. Please note: If you are reserving a tandem kayak or canoe, please plan to attend with a paddling partner also registered with the DBW. We can’t always guarantee another solo paddler will join you in a two-person boat. Thank you!
BOAT: Prothonotary Pontoon #1, 8 – 10 a.m.

Join fellow birders for a guided pontoon boat cruise on the Pocomoke River in Snow Hill, Maryland. Prothonotary Warblers will be seen in the low branches of the bald cypress that border the river. Several other warblers and neotropical migrants will be added to your tally, as well as possibilities for Red-headed Woodpecker and Barred Owl.
BOAT: Prothonotary Pontoon #2, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
COST: $55/person

We’ll launch from Red House Road on Nassawango Creek for a paddle through the beautiful Nassawango Creek Preserve managed by The Nature Conservancy. We’ll enjoy a gentle paddle through the Bald Cypress searching for Prothonotary Warblers, Northern Parulas, Wood Ducks, and Barred Owls. We’ll end this 3-hour trip at the Nassawango Road bridge.

BOAT: Sunset Shorebird Explorer, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

MEETING LOCATION: Talbot Street Pier in Ocean City, MD
Leave the dock at Talbot Street in Ocean City, Maryland, and enjoy a sunset boat tour around Skimmer Island and the north shore of Assateague Island. This two-hour trip is great for adding coastal species to your tally, such as Black Skimmer, Royal Tern, Piping Plover and American Oystercatcher. And don’t forget the Assateague horses! Please bring a $5- $10 tip for the First Mate.
