Warblermania! will help you add warblers to your weekend tally! Meet your guide at Pocomoke River Canoe Company in Snow Hill, MD, and caravan to Nassawango Creek to search for Prothonotary, Worm-eating, and Prairie warblers, American Redstarts, Northern Parulas, and other birds of the bald cypress swamp.




KAYAK/CANOE: Nassawango Warblers on Water, 8:00 a.m. – SOLD OUT
COST: $40/person sharing a tandem kayak, $50/person solo kayak

Nassawango Creek, a tributary to the Pocomoke River near Snow Hill, Maryland, has been designated an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society, and is thick with warblers and neotropical migrants, including incredible numbers of Prothonotary Warblers. The Nature Conservancy has preserved more nearly 10,000 acres along the Nassawango, which makes this 3-hour trip bordered by bald cypress a beautiful one.

This smooth water paddle is appropriate for all skill levels. Paddlers may choose canoes, tandem kayaks, or solo kayaks. For scheduling, please select tandem kayak if you want a canoe. We will follow up later with your preference.

All paddling done by participants; some experience required. Must be 13 years old to participate. Please note: If you are reserving a tandem kayak or canoe, please plan to attend with a paddling partner also registered with the DBW. We can’t always guarantee another solo paddler will join you in a two-person boat. Thank you!

 

KAYAK/CANOE: Porter’s Crossing Prothonotary Paddle, 8:00 a.m.
COST: $40/person sharing a tandem kayak, $50/person solo kayak
MEETING LOCATION: Pocomoke River Canoe Company

We’ll launch from Porter’s Crossing on the Pocomoke River a few miles north of Snow Hill, Maryland and travel deep into the forested wilderness of bald cypress. Prothonotary Warblers, bald eagles, wood ducks and beavers are regulars on this 3-hour trip, which will end at the Pocomoke River in Snow Hill.

On a windy day, this paddle can present a moderate challenge as we approach Snow Hill. Paddlers may choose canoes, tandem kayaks, or solo kayaks. For scheduling, please select tandem kayak if you want a canoe. We will follow up later with your preference.

BOAT: Prothonotary Pontoon, 8:00 a.m.
COST: $30/person
MEETING LOCATION: Pocomoke River Canoe Company

Join fellow birders for a guided pontoon boat cruise on the Pocomoke River in Snow Hill, Maryland. Prothonotary Warblers will be seen in the low branches of the bald cypress that border the river. Several other warblers and neotropical migrants will be added to your tally, as well as possibilities for Red-headed Woodpecker and Barred Owl.




DRIVING: Newport Farms Diversity Walk, 8:00 a.m.
COST: $25/person
MEETING LOCATION: the cul-de-sac at the end of Hayes Landing Road near Berlin, MD

Saunter through old pines and oaks adjacent to open fields and marsh on the 2,200-acre Newport Farms near Berlin, Maryland. Many species will be observed during this 4-hour walk through private land protected with a conservation easement. A 50-acre shallow pond on the farm harbors nesting Bald Eagles, Wood Ducks, and wading birds. Bathroom available.




KAYAK: Ayers Creek Morning Paddle, 9:00 a.m.
COST: $40/person sharing a tandem kayak, $50/person solo kayak
MEETING LOCATION: Ayers Creek Adventures

Paddle the beautiful forested headwaters of Ayers Creek, abundant with birds and wildlife, just minutes from Berlin, Maryland. View woodpeckers, flycatchers, swallows, nuthatches, titmice, wrens, thrushes, vireos, warblers, herons, egrets and more.
