MOS Convention Boat Trips

The Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) has teamed up with Delmarva Birding Weekends to host these special birding boat trips on February 3-4, 2018, just for MOS Conference Participants!

We’ll meet at the Ocean City Fishing Center for three near-shore pelagic trips aboard the Morning Star with Capt. Monty Hawkins. The guided experiences will explore the water and jetties around the Ocean City Inlet for shorebirds, scoters, sea ducks and loons, and the offshore waters of the Atlantic for alcids, jaegers, and phalaropes, and other winter oceanic species. Scroll down to register today!

CANCELATION POLICY: Due to the cold weather forecasted for February 3-4, refunds will be issued to anyone requesting one. Please submit your refund request before 5:00 pm on Friday, February 2. Please arrive early so that you don’t miss the boat.

TRIP TIPS: Please take note of these suggested tips to make your boat trip pleasant for you and your fellow birders:

  • Please arrive early for guest check-in, as the boat leaves on time.
  • There is no galley on the boat, but you may bring coolers with food and drink. No glass bottles, please.
  • Dress for the weather and plan to get a little wet. A waterproof shell is recommended, as you may get some salt spray from birding along the rail. You can warm up in the cabin, but the good birding will be outside on the rail! It’s going to be cold on Saturday, so you may want to bring hand and toe warmers.
  • If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to consider Dramamine or Bonine (both are sold over-the-counter), or whatever natural preventative you prefer. Please don’t wait until you’re on the boat to take your medication. Follow the instructions to make sure you have a great experience birding on the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Please bring a $5 to $10 cash tip for the First Mate.

Registration will remain open throughout the weekend. Register below through our secure PayPal account. If you have any questions, please email or call Jim Rapp xxxxxx
